FIRST SATURDAY GUIDELINES
The following are the requirements to be a vendor:
Acceptance of vendors is based upon the decision of the Darien Downtown Development Authority Vendor Requirements Review Committee.
We are looking for local artists, craftspeople, antiques, food related items – such as locally made jams, jellies, baked goods, vegetables. We will not accept “thrift store” or “yard sale” type items. All items should be handmade or crafted by the vendor or considered an antique or collectible.
Anyone wishing to participate as a vendor must complete an application and provide us with photos of your goods as stated as a requirement on the application. We will accept applications up until the week of the event. Anything after that will be considered for the following month’s event.
There is a $15 nonrefundable application/reservation fee. This fee is due at the time in which your application is presented. Your application will not be marked received and complete without such.
There is monthly charge of $10.00 to be a vendor. You may select to pay in advance or monthly.
No one is allowed to participate by just showing up!
Once approved as a vendor:
As long as you confirm a reservation and attend First Saturday, we will transfer your reservation fee to the next month. If you make a reservation and do not attend, you forfeit the deposit and are required to pay a new $15 reservation fee before attending again.
If you tell us in advance you cannot attend, we will transfer your reservation fee for up to three months if you are unable to participate. After that, you will need to re-apply for consideration and will be required to pay a new reservation fee. If you have two no-shows, we will not allow you to participate in any future events. No fees will be refunded for any reason.
A First Saturday representative will phone all current vendors beginning the week of the event each month to confirm your space. All new vendors must register with the Darien Downtown Development Authority (912) 269-0709 (Kate) at least 6 days before the event to reserve a space and for advertising purposes. If you have reserved a space and will not be able to attend, it is your responsibility to call and let us know at least 72 hours in advance to avoid forfeiting your reservation fee.
Tents are suggested and vendors are responsible for their own tables and tents. Spaces may be up to 10’ x 10’ in size. Larger spaces must be approved in advance and are subject to site availability. In certain situations, you may be charged for an additional reservation fee.
Electricity is not provided unless requested and is then limited. An additional $10.00 fee for electricity is payable in advance for each use and is non-refundable. Each vendor must remove their trash and food vendors must supply receptacles for their customers. The use of private trash containers on Broad Street is STRICTLY PROHIBITED!
All spaces are assigned and may not be altered or moved without the consent of the First Saturday committee.
Set up is between 8:30AM and 9:30AM. No vendor is allowed to begin installing their space before 8:15AM. Tear down is AFTER 2PM. No vehicles are allowed on Broad Street between 9:30AM and 2:00PM. No one except an authorized First Saturday representative may move any barricades or allow any vehicles on Broad Street during the hours posted above. Vendors may not park on Broad Street. Vendor parking is on Screven and/or First Street.
Under no circumstances is anyone allowed to alter these guidelines. Failure to adhere to these guidelines will result in immediate expulsion from the event and prohibit you from participating in any future events as an individual or as part of a group.
Weather is always an unknown factor for any outdoor event. If it is raining in DARIEN at 9:00AM, we will cancel the event. Otherwise, you are expected to attend as scheduled. In cooler months, we will take into consideration the temperature and may cancel an event. However, unless you are notified by us on the day of the event, you are expected to attend and will forfeit your reservation fee if you do not.
**BEGINNING DECEMBER 2015 ALL BOOTH SPACES WILL BE MOVED OUT OFF BROAD STREET PROPER ONTO THE VACANT LOTS OFF OF BROAD STREET. FROM THE MONTH OF DECEMBER FORWARD WE WILL NO LONGER BE CLOSING BROAD STREET.**
